If you’ve clicked on this blog, it’s fair to say you’re either looking for a high-quality office or home office headset that will help you work efficiently on your computer or telephone. Or it’s possible you’re a buyer trying to decide on which headsets are going to be best to buy for your staff to use in a contact centre, for home working, or both!
We’re going to be listing our favourite multi-function wired headsets for home, office and contact centre use. We’ll be talking about the best office headsets for calls that will work on almost any telephone or computer.
These types of headsets are the workhorses for all types of business communications so before we start, let’s talk briefly about Quick Disconnection leads.
Table of Contents
Quick disconnection and compatibility
The wired headsets listed here all have what is known as a Quick Disconnection point which allows different types of connection lead to be added to the headset. This way they can be connected to literally almost any communications device with an input port. The most common types being RJ11 and 3.5mm jack for telephones, and USB for PC’s.
These bottom cables are sold separately so that you can buy one (or more) that are compatible for the all the devices you intend to use with your wired headset.
With USB Type-A being the most common type of connection lead for office headsets right now, I will link to a compatible USB bottom cable for each headset. These are ideal for those of you buying for home working or softphone applications.
It is important to know that bottom leads are available for almost ANY type of telephone or PC that some sort of input port.
Noise cancelling Vs Non-Noise cancelling office headsets
I will be listing the microphone noise cancelling versions of all the office headsets here as they tend to fit a broader set of use cases. However, please note that non-noise cancelling versions (voice tube style) are also available for almost all the headsets you will see listed here.
Monaural Vs Binaural office headsets
Binaural headsets will come with two earpieces, whist Monaural will come with one earpiece.
We have linked to both versions of each headset below.
Without any further ado, here’s our favourite ten corded office headsets for home, office and contact centre.
Project Telecom Advanced
Project Telecom are a relative newcomer when it comes to office headsets, but they have opened their account with an absolute cracker here in their advanced model. The design isn’t too flashy, but it is most certainly a high-quality headset that punches way above its weight in terms of build and sound quality. These are built to last, so you should be buying a headset that will stand the test of time without breaking the bank here. They’re perfect for any office or home office user!
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
High build quality
lower price point than similar quality headsets
lifetime warranty - Cons:
Not the flashiest of design.
Binaural
Monaural
Project BL-051+P QD to USB-A Connection Cable
Jabra Biz 2300
We’re a big fan of Jabra, they always design and build a quality office headset and they’ve done it again here with the Jabra Biz 2300. A high-quality design that feels like it’s designed to last, and the design looks modern and slick. Sound quality with Jabra is always good and these are no different. Highly recommended.
Pro’s & Cons.
- Pros:
Great build quality
lovely modern design - Cons:
Pricey for an occasional user
Binaural
Monaural
Jabra USB Adapter (QD to USB)
EPOS / Sennheiser CC540
Sennheiser are the kings of great sound quality and have serious engineering chops when it comes to audio tech. The Sennheiser CC540 is one of the highest quality and best designed wired headsets in this list, however there could be a touch of over-engineering going on here, so we must acknowledge that the design and the price point won’t suit all users. It really is an incredible quality headset and if you’re looking for the best, and money is no object then who are we to disagree!
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
Very high quality
Durable
Comfortable
Sennheiser sound quality - Cons:
Bulkier than other options
Price is higher.
Binaural
Monaural
Epos USB Headset Connection Cable
Poly Encore Pro
Poly (Formerly Plantronics) are one of the heavyweights in terms of professional headset design for offices and call centres and have been designing office headsets since they supplied NASA for the Moon landings back in 1969. The Poly Encore pro is a real beauty and probably ranks highly as one of the best-looking headsets in this list. Poly’s sound quality is always excellent and there’s no real change here, the Encore Pro sounds crisp and clean as always. Definitely a top pick.
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
Seriously good-looking headset
lightweight
Plantronics (Poly) reputation - Cons:
Don’t leave it on your chair
That boom arm looks thin.
High price point.
Binaural
Monaural
Poly DA90 USB Audio Processor
Project 202
Project’s second headset in the list and it’s another high-quality build from them. The 202 is slightly different and slightly chunkier than their Advanced model, but the same sort of build quality here, however it does feel that bit more substantial to the other model. We like this! The sound quality is on-point and the build is equal to most others in this list, which is impressive, especially at this price-point!
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
Great value for money compared to other brands
High build quality
Lifetime warranty - Cons:
Slightly heavier than the Project Telecom advanced model
Binaural
Monaural
BL-053+P QD to USB-A Connection Cable
Epos / Sennheiser SC268
Another quality headset here in the form of the Epos / Sennheiser SC268, as you’d expect the sound is clear and sharp and the build quality is about what you’d expect at this price-point, solid and reliable. The design is a basic and functional, but this is Sennheiser’s entry level option so if you’re looking for a trusted brand at a slightly lower price-point, then the EPOS Sennheiser SC268 is a good choice.
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
Solid build quality
Sennheiser’s sound tuning - Cons:
Design style is a little basic
Binaural
Monaural
Epos USB Headset Connection Cable
Project Telecom Everyday
Project Telecom’s budget offering here is better quality than we expected considering some of the titans it’s going up against in this list. The Everyday headset comes out well, with nice, clear, crisp sound and quite a funky design that looks better than an office headset this price should do. The Project Telecom Everyday is a good option for occasional users looking for something cost-effective and reliable, or a start-up call centre needing a bulk order that won’t break the bank.
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
Excellent value for money
Good build quality
Great for large quantity purchases & offices - Cons:
Plastic style feel to the body of the headset
Binaural
Monaural
BL-053+P QD to USB-A Connection Cable
Poly Encore Pro
Another beauty here from Poly the Encore pro is sleek, slim black with gold trim, a unique design in terms of office headsets. We like it! Sound is crisp and clear, build quality is high, although the light thin design means you’ll need to be careful where you leave it lying around between calls.
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
Seriously great looking headset!
Prestige brand. - Cons:
High price for brand new, may be a touch on the flimsy side for some.
Binaural
Monaural
DA90 USB Audio Processor
Jabra Biz 1500
The Biz 1500 is Jabra’s entry level offering and whilst plain looking it is still a nice-looking design, with a Kevlar reinforced cable for that extra durability, these are cost-effective headsets that will last the test of time.
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
Jabra reputation
Good quality
Entry level good for bulk buy contact centres - Cons:
Higher rated headsets available
Binaural
Monaural
Jabra Link 230 USB Adapter (QD to USB)
Project Telecom | Binaural Ultra Noise Cancelling Contact Centre Headset
The final offering here from Project Telecom, their Ultra range of headsets are designed with quality of sound in mind, they do sound excellent, on a par with a lot of the more expensive brands in this list. The design isn’t to everyone’s taste, but the build quality and the lifetime warranty that comes with these should attract a lot of attention as these are low key an excellent headset!
Pro’s & Cons
- Pros:
High quality wideband sound
Lifetime warranty
Tough build quality - Cons:
Design isn’t to everyone’s tastes
Binaural
Monaural
BL-053+P QD to USB-A Connection Cable
